Here’s a thought for the day for the parents: do you parent like you drive?
When someone drifts into your lane with out using a turn signal, do you: a) yell and curse and lay on your horn, b) hit your brakes and silently accept their inconsiderate and reckless disregard for you, or c) tap on the horn so they realize they did something wrong, then go back to your talk radio show…?

I thought about it today as I watched some idiot float in and out of the center lane a few cars ahead of me. No one honked, they just slammed on their brakes or swerved from the other car without so much as a warning tap on the horn to say “WAKE UP IDIOT- YOUR’E GONNA CAUSE AN ACCIDENT!!!” Makes me think of those kids whose parents don’t correct their bad decisions- they just keep driving hoping it won’t happen again, which will likely lead to the kid repeating the bad behavior until something eventually does happen.

Do you have to be enraged, bite the kid’s head off, call him insulting names and threaten to sell him to gypsies to correct the bad behavior..? Not ALWAYS. But a little tap on the horn, when they drift into dangerous territory, as a warning and a wake up call- not a bad idea…

How much of your life do YOU control? If the company you work for today goes belly up, do you have the ability to continue or dare I say- IMPROVE- your way of life? It’s been heavy on my mind, especially with the massive changes in the U.S. today.
My favorite quote from my days in direct sales: “If you don’t take the time to build your OWN future, there is always someone out there willing to help you build THEIRS.”

I am taking my family’s future into my own hands. I will not help send someone else’s kid to college while mine pays off students loans- oh NO. It’s so exciting to help other small business owners achieve the same goal I have- to provide the best for my family in a way that I can be proud of. I am so thrilled with where www.Aphioni.com has risen to in such a short time. I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for being here now, for becoming members of Aphioni.com, and for submitting your testimonials and referrals of fantastic local businesses.

Together WE will keep our neighborhood thriving with unique businesses- not overrun with national franchises, but rather alive with original choices in where we eat, shop and play, and options for who fixes our plumbing, who builds additions onto our homes, and who cares for our children. It’s an exciting time in America, and WE are part of that! Be heard on www.aphioni.com and be seen as a customer of the finest local businesses in town.

  1. oh it was AWESOME! came off of LCP sitting 2nd at the 4 way stop on Shellhorn to turn left- Chipotle, Fosters, etc. to my left, I forget the street name.

from the interection to the right- in spite of another car stopped waiting its turn to go in the lane beside him, a green truck goes FLYING thru the four way stop without a care in the WORLD, until the cop behind me crawled up his butt, pulled him over and took care of BINIZ! i hope he hung up his cell phone b4 she go to the window…

what a maroon. the guy in front of ME had just started to turn left and would have been CREAMED by this guy had she moved a little faster.

SO glad there is a larger prescence of LoCO police lately- I hope that guy got a million tickets for speeding, reckless driving, blowing the stop sign and being a complete idgit- do they issue idgit tickets… lol

    made my DAY.

  2. you know, my dog makes me really happy. nothing replaces that unbridled adoration when you walk in the door. the way he is so happy to see me when he doesn’t know what to do with himself- “oooh- do i grab a toy? should i spin in a circle? oh oh oh i’ll spin the other way! i will lick her hand and wag my whole body in fornt of her… hooray- mommy is home!”

meanwhile from The Boy I typically get a nonchalant nod and monotone “hi….” as he doesn’t take his eyes off of the TV.

don’t get me wrong- i know The Boy loves me. we laugh together, have heart to hearts, play Monopoly, and enjoy each other’s company. but The Dog- he shows me every moment how much he wants to impress me! I am the pack leader and he goes out of his way to be my favorite.

having a great dog is just- well- great! i understand why they are used for therapy, they just make you feel so loved. you haven’t lived til you wake up being spooned by a Jack Russell ….

    i love my doggie.
