A facial is a facial, right? Wrong! I cannot say enough about Bridgette Aubel (Licensed Master Aesthetician) at the Institute of Facial and Cosmetic surgery in Lansdowne. Not only did my skin feel clean and glowing for DAYS, but I learned so much about my skin and skin care. I was hooked!
I had always been skeptical about the promised results of facials and medi spa treatments. I've since learned that with the right knowledgable master aesthetician you really can dramatically improve the tone, texture and color of your skin without invasive surgical procedures or a small fortune. Having struggled with acne and poor skin my whole life, I am now proudly wearing my hair back away from my face. My skin has never looked better. Thank you Bridgette!
Guess what my mom is getting for Mothers day....

In home Personal Trainer - I've been working with Carrie of Carriecise for about three months now. She comes out twice a week and we do a one hour circuit. She works with my gear as well as some of her own that she brings along and develops a program for the other days. She also advises on nutrition. Results? Oh yeah! Down 9 pounds, two inches off the waist, 1.5% off the body fat and acclerating!!!

For 4 years, my husband & I love to go to Logans Steakhouse in Sterling for good food at a good price. Being a fussy eater, this is a big deal that I like it there. Yeast rolls are always yummy & they make my salad to special order(without dressing but add bacon bits & croutons).

Of course, if you’re allergic to nuts, this isn’t the place to go - there’s peanuts everywhere.

It’s child-friendly - families go here & their kids are happy (in fact, we’ve taken our grandkids here on occasion).

While it’s very country music looking inside (not our preference in style). I’ve been pleased that recently, the atmosphere is not country music & yee-haws as much anymore. It’s more of a mix of rock, country & pop music in the background & it’s not very loud.

The servers are always attentive & friendly, & the manager always visits every table toward the end of the meal to ask how everything was.

You all need to check out A Taste of Burma in the Countryside Shopping Center, down at the far left end of the center. It is a hidden gem. The problem is that it is "hidden" so no one knows about it. The food is fabulous. Burmese is Asian, kind of like Chinese or Thai but way better with many different kinds of offerings. Because no one seems to know about it, you can always get a table. The prices are reasonable and, as I said before, the food is fabulous. Check out washingtonpost.com or the Washingtonian (and I even think it is in Zagats) if you don't believe me! Don't miss out on this amazing restauratnt.

I'd like to leave my rave for Ashburn Pilates. The classes are small - around 8 to 10 people. This allows owner Kelli Jacobs to have one to one time during each 50 minute session. Whether you are just starting out, or need a tune up on your form, she is precise, never overly critical, and lets you tell her how changes in form feel to you so she can pinpoint what needs to be corrected.
I take one group class each week and one private lesson each week. This gives me 100 minutes a week out of my "home gym" (guest room with small tv and exercide DVDs) for real interaction.
I've been doing this at Ashburn Pilates since September and have seen improved posture, lower blood pressure, and in general more confidence about how this can supplement my home work out regimine.
