  1. This Guest Review comes from Tammy P. in Brambleton:

I highly recommend Carol Foley as Brambleton Dog Care professional. When in need for a dog caretaker during Christmas holiday, she responded very
fast to my request. She was up front with her rates and worked around my schedule to meet my dog. My dog isn’t the best dog, she chews everything in sight and doesn’t listen well, but Carol was understanding. Carol was on time to our meet, and she asked a lot of questions that are important but I failed to share before hand. We went over everything from what my dog eats, to where her normal place to go potty is.

After she left, Carol called a day before my trip to confirm our plans. In fact my travel plans changed, and she was flexible to adjust her caretaking schedule. We came home a day early from our traveling, and carol felt bad she didn’t get a chance to leave her normal doggie report- she gave me full details of our
dog’s walk over the phone and with a follow up letter, to include a check for the extra payment of the one day early return. I am impressed with
Carol and want all pet owner to consider her next time they need a walker/sitter. I believe she does other services such as plant watering
and mail pickup. Her number is 703-327-4450 / 203-561-7524 and her email is cfoley7557@gmail.com / dunkie7557@yahoo.com (alternate). Also, Carol
    Foley is a Brambleton resident.

    Thanks,
    Tammy

  2. Since I know you’re not big on asian food, I thought I’d offer my praise for Hunan Cafe in the Southern Walk Plaza by Harris Teeter. They’ve been open a few months now and I’ve had delivery from them 3 or 4 times. They use nice, lean cuts of meat, good quality veggies that don’t get mushy, and when it comes to service, well, that’s the best part. They typically tell me it will be 25 minutes, but they’re ALWAYS here in less than 15. Granted, my house is about a mile away, but they always exceed expectations in this area. And my two pre-schoolers LOVE their chicken lo mein, as do I. My spice-fiend of a husband enjoys their szechuan chicken. I have yet to try something from Hunan that I do not like.

  3. I highly recommend Ronald Jimenez with RJ Painting & Drywall, 703-932-0551. I have hired him many, many times at four different properties of mine (plus lots of friends!) and he has always done excellent work! His level of service is terrific. He is very dependable; the drywall, paint and walls always look beautiful. He and his crew are quick and clean up well. I always feel I get such a great value from the high quality work he does. I first met Ronald four years ago when he came to paint a couple of rooms in my new home in Broadlands. At that time, I was like a lot of people are – very leery of contractors. I felt that so many charge too much, they try to rip you off, etc. My personal experience was from my mother who had hired a painter who painted an entire ranch style house for her and got paint on every single fixture in the whole house! It was a mess. My sister had hired painters who began work, they wanted and received payment and then they disappeared, never even completing painting her house. I’m sure everyone has their own story. Well, working with Ronald Jimenez changed all that for me! He is completely trustworthy. He does a lot of thorough prep work. He doesn’t ask for payment until he’s completed the work. He was very professional and punctual right from the beginning and has been and continues to be over these last four years that he’s done different projects for me. Some of these projects have been: wallpaper removal, interior and exterior painting, chair rail removal, adding chair rail to a room, replacing rotten wood, power washing, staining a deck, caulking bathtubs and lots of different drywall repairs. We had a couple of huge, ugly water damaged ceilings that he repaired and now, you would never even know there had been damage – it looks so good. He’s done a couple of beautiful jobs adding and completing walls for me. But my favorite, favorite work that he has done has been for my son’s room, my daughter room and the bathroom they share. He’s painted a lot of different colors in my current home and some with some very interesting and unusual textures that I love to show off but I always make guests go look at my kid’s rooms and bathroom! Ronald painted my daughter’s room a beautiful purple and pink which are separated by white chair rail (that he added) for a Disney Princess theme. My son’s room has the comforter and curtains from the Justice League, mostly Batman and Superman so Ronald painted the walls black on the bottom and gray on the top with a yellow chair rail in the middle – just like Batman’s outfit. He even painted a big Batman symbol on one wall that looks great! The kid’s bathroom has a “fish in the ocean” theme so Ronald actually painted dark blue “waves” on the wall and at the top of the walls he painted an amazing border that completely matches my shower curtain. Whenever anyone sees these three rooms they always say, “Wow! He’s really talented!” Yes, he is but not only that he gets an “A” grade in price, quality, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism.

  4. This Rave is from Christy B.:

I am writing to RAVE about my recent experience with Ashburn-based Personal Trainer & Nutrition Expert, Tina Pavone! Tina is extremely helpful in getting clients motivated to exercise, developing healthy eating habits and ultimately getting fit. She works with all fitness levels and will challenge you in every workout. Her motto is ‘Variety is the spice of life’ and she applies that to the workouts so clients don’t get bored and workouts stay fresh.

She worked with me out of my home with very little equipment at all. I was so amazed with what you could do in a small space with so little. She is definitely resourceful. With more than 20 years of experience, she has many tricks up sleeve! In as little as a month I saw results! Needless to say, I highly recommend her!

You can contact Tina at 703-298-4725 or healthyphat@gmail.com.

  5. Karen Hart has done 3 cruises for our family and one for a multi-family group. Her knowledge of the lines and destinations was invaluable, her pricing was great, her responses were quick and accurate and her follow-through was completely thorough. In sum, her service was priceless and we would not go anywhere else for cruise and related travel arrangements. In today’s world, this is rare in any industry!

In a few words, Karen brings us:

    Invaluable insights
    Accurate information
    Great prices
    Thorough, responsive service
Priceless help in a complex market

  6. Pressed 4 Time is a pick up and delivery dry cleaning, shoe repair and alterations service. The owner Darren is the nicest guy sho also lives in Ashburn. 7. Ready to get your car or truck back to “show room condition”? Can’t afford to leave your car at some detail shop for a day? Well, I urge you to call Billy. He’s a one man band that does AMAZING work.

He will come to your business or home with his own tank of water and do wonderful things to your vehicle. He is not cheap – but he is very, very worth it.

Call Billy at (703) 678-6900, get an appointment and treat your ride to some pride!!!!

I have a Volvo C70 convertable. I had him do an outside hand wash, and full interior detail. The car was my Mom’s and she bought it in 2002. It had NEVER been cleaned inside. I just got the car from an auto body shop (Craftsman Auto Body – great job, however….) and it was covered in dirt and bird doo.

The car is now spotless & the interior is like the day ot drove off the lot!!! ALL of the dirt – accumulated from many long, top-down trips – the scuff marks and stains are GONE. Billy came to my work place to do the work.

    It was $150.

  8. I’d like to leave my rave for Ashburn Pilates. The classes are small – around 8 to 10 people. This allows owner Kelli Jacobs to have one to one time during each 50 minute session. Whether you are just starting out, or need a tune up on your form, she is precise, never overly critical, and lets you tell her how changes in form feel to you so she can pinpoint what needs to be corrected.
I take one group class each week and one private lesson each week. This gives me 100 minutes a week out of my “home gym” (guest room with small tv and exercide DVDs) for real interaction.
I’ve been doing this at Ashburn Pilates since September and have seen improved posture, lower blood pressure, and in general more confidence about how this can supplement my home work out regimine.

  9. You all need to check out A Taste of Burma in the Countryside Shopping Center, down at the far left end of the center. It is a hidden gem. The problem is that it is “hidden” so no one knows about it. The food is fabulous. Burmese is Asian, kind of like Chinese or Thai but way better with many different kinds of offerings. Because no one seems to know about it, you can always get a table. The prices are reasonable and, as I said before, the food is fabulous. Check out washingtonpost.com or the Washingtonian (and I even think it is in Zagats) if you don’t believe me! Don’t miss out on this amazing restauratnt.

For 4 years, my husband & I love to go to Logans Steakhouse in Sterling for good food at a good price. Being a fussy eater, this is a big deal that I like it there. Yeast rolls are always yummy & they make my salad to special order(without dressing but add bacon bits & croutons).

Of course, if you’re allergic to nuts, this isn’t the place to go – there’s peanuts everywhere.

It’s child-friendly – families go here & their kids are happy (in fact, we’ve taken our grandkids here on occasion).

While it’s very country music looking inside (not our preference in style). I’ve been pleased that recently, the atmosphere is not country music & yee-haws as much anymore. It’s more of a mix of rock, country & pop music in the background & it’s not very loud.

The servers are always attentive & friendly, & the manager always visits every table toward the end of the meal to ask how everything was.

  11. In home Personal Trainer – I’ve been working with Carrie of Carriecise for about three months now. She comes out twice a week and we do a one hour circuit. She works with my gear as well as some of her own that she brings along and develops a program for the other days. She also advises on nutrition. Results? Oh yeah! Down 9 pounds, two inches off the waist, 1.5% off the body fat and acclerating!!!

  12. A facial is a facial, right? Wrong! I cannot say enough about Bridgette Aubel (Licensed Master Aesthetician) at the Institute of Facial and Cosmetic surgery in Lansdowne. Not only did my skin feel clean and glowing for DAYS, but I learned so much about my skin and skin care. I was hooked!
I had always been skeptical about the promised results of facials and medi spa treatments. I’ve since learned that with the right knowledgable master aesthetician you really can dramatically improve the tone, texture and color of your skin without invasive surgical procedures or a small fortune. Having struggled with acne and poor skin my whole life, I am now proudly wearing my hair back away from my face. My skin has never looked better. Thank you Bridgette!
Guess what my mom is getting for Mothers day….
