i figured it out a few years ago- I am happy for a lot of reasons. i don’t expect PERFECTION in my day. i assume someone will cut me off in traffic, my son will be a wise guy, i will drop and spill something on my new shirt, and chances are, we will find out that we owe money on some bill we forgot about, at exactly the same moment we get a financial windfall!

but none of that takes precedence in my life over my smart, sweet, talented, healthy son, my compassionate, HOT, funny, hard working, dedicated husband, my own fortunate health and entrepreneurship that has led to dreams coming true, and of course, my ueber-intelligent and ohso cute Parson Russell Terrier! then i remember my house that i love coming home to, my comfortable bed and fantastic job.

I remember the fun vacations we’ve taken as a family, and the date nights and getaways my husband and I take to reconnect and stay on this honeymoon for the past 15 years. I think about the wonderful friends we’ve made and how fortunate we are that we have people who care about us and vice versa.

then- all of the sudden- the idiot in the minivan is meaningless, the exhorbitant price of gas custs less deeply (because i stay in my comfortable bed and read instead of going out! lol) and daily problems are dealt with as expectations- not exceptions- in my life.

i sleep well, start my day smiling, and make an effort to make someone else feel good as well, just because. it’s a great way to live!
